Cartography |
Trained By: Architect, Decorator, Fisherman, Ranger, Shipwright Title: Cartographer You can buy blank maps from a provisioner. You have three choices for maps: Detailed, Regional and World maps. The detailed maps look very much like the treasure maps you find. The world map is just that, and although it is much larger than the other two kinds, it is still so small that it's not much use. Regional maps are more detailed. Note: that wherever you are standing when you make either a detailed or regional map, that becomes the center of the map. At this time, you cannot plot a course on a map for a tillerman to take you there. Also as Valhalla uses a custom map the maps made will look nothing like the place you are standing. The cartography skill is also used for reading treasure maps, which are found in a number of ways. They can be taken from some monsters or dug up while mining. There are different levels to maps and depending on your cartography skill will decide which you can decipher. Once deciphered you need a shovel and the map in your main backpack. Double click the shovel then the map and it will give you a direction. After some running around when you are on the spot you will start digging up a chest, no warning. Monsters are spawned upon opening the chest, the higher the map level the tougher the monsters. Something else to keep in mind is maps will decay fairly quickly. |
